ABC News' "Good Morning America" is heading to Central Park for the 2009 Summer Concert series sponsored by Walgreens. This year's annual concert series will feature an eclectic and exciting mix of rock, pop, country - even Broadway - when "GMA" kicks off its 2009 Summer Concert series from the Rumsey Playfield in Central Park. Home to Central Park SummerStage, "Good Morning America" will become the first national morning television program to broadcast a concert series live from Central Park. From Lionel Richie to Brad Paisley the Jonas Brothers to the cast of Broadway's "Hair," "GMA" has something for everyone this summer.
On Friday, May 22, the three-time Grammy Award-winning Green Day will kick things off with their first-ever morning television appearance in support of their upcoming Reprise Records album, "21st Century Breakdown." Since their 1994 break-out album, "Dookie," Green Day has sold more than 30 million records, scored their ninth No. 1 single at alternative radio and played to millions of people around the world. "21st Century Breakdown," the follow-up to their 2004 multi-platinum album, "American Idiot," will hit stores on Friday, May 15.
Viewers interested in joining "GMA" in Central Park are encouraged to arrive at Rumsey Playfield via the 69th street entrance on Fifth Avenue at 6:00 a.m., when the park opens to the public.
