Zac Efron will host "Saturday Night Live" April 11, with musical guest Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Zac Efron, who will make his "SNL" hosting debut, is one of Hollywood's young breakout stars. He stars in the film "17 Again," which opens in theaters April 17. Zac gained recognition as the star of the Emmy Award-winning phenomenon "High School Musical" and reprised his role in "High School Musical 2," which broke cable TV records as it garnered 17.5 million viewers. His recent film sensation "High School Musical 3: Senior Year," set a box office record for the highest grossing opening weekend for a musical. Zac also starred alongside an all-star cast in last summer's box office smash "Hairspray." Efron was awarded an MTV Movie Award for Breakthrough Performance in the film, which also garnered the Critics Choice award for Best Ensemble. The "Hairspray" cast was also nominated for Golden Globe and SAG Awards. Efron can be seen starring with Claire Danes in "Me and Orson Welles" later this year.
Also making their "SNL" debut, Yeah Yeah Yeahs will perform from their newest album "It's Blitz!" The album earned "4 stars" from Rolling Stone Magazine and Spin Magazine calls it "the alternative pop album of the decade." Yeah Yeah Yeahs released their debut studio album "Fever To Tell" in 2003 and followed with "Show Your Bones" in 2006. Rolling Stone called "Show Your Bones" a "textural triumph" and was rated one of the Top 50 albums of 2006 by the magazine, as well as one of the Top 40 albums of 2006 by Spin Magazine. The band has also gained recognition in the digital world as their song "Maps" is a playable track in the music video game "Rock Band."
