"LL Cool J: The E! True Hollywood Story"
Premieres Wednesday, April 15 AT 10pm ET/PT ON E!

With a hit record at 16, LL Cool J started fast and today shows no signs of stopping as he celebrates 25 years in the hip-hop game. He called himself "Ladies Love Cool James" and then proved the boast with millions of adoring female fans. Still this powerhouse had plenty to overcome along the way – a tough childhood, rocky relationship, financial near-ruin and critics who thought he'd lost his way. True Hollywood Story tells the tale of this rap icon through brand-new interviews with LL, his family and respected industry colleagues. "LL Cool J: The E! True Hollywood Story," premieres Wednesday, April 15 at 10pm ET/PT on E!

THS reveals LL's amazing quest to become the G.O.A.T. (Greatest of All Time). In a brand-new interview, LL recounts to E! how he witnessed the aftermath of his mother and grandfather being shot by his estranged father when he was just four years old. LL's mother Ondrea shares with E! how she took LL to his first concert featuring the Sugarhill Gang – and how when gunfire broke out, her young son ducked under the stage so as not to miss a moment of the show. When LL was 16, his track, "I Need a Beat," caught the attention of hip hop mogul-in-training Russell Simmons, and Def Jam Records was born. Twenty-five years later, LL is rap's number one survivor, and, as P. Diddy points out during the episode, this mega-talent has influenced rap music like no other artist.

Not limited to simply music, LL also achieved a successful acting career with numerous roles in film and television. Along the way, LL found time to fall in love and have four children, and his wife Simone reveals the joys and hardships of their long-running relationship, including details about the couple's two and a half-year separation. "LL Cool J: The E! True Hollywood Story" pays tribute to this living legend.
