VH1 Classic to Televise 'Paul Shaffer And His British Invasion: A Tribute To Mike Smith,' Saturday, March 1 at 6:30 PM and 10:00 PM*

VH1 Classic is celebrating the life and work of Dave Clark Five lead singer Mike Smith, who passed away yesterday at the age of 64, with the television premiere of "Paul Shaffer And His British Invasion: A Tribute To Mike Smith." The tribute concert will premiere on VH1 Classic on Saturday, March 1 at 6:30 PM.* The concert will re-air on VH1 Classic Saturday, March 1 at 10:00 PM and will be seen in high-definition on MHD: MTV Networks' high-definition music channel Saturday, March 1 at 10:00 PM.

"Paul Shaffer And His British Invasion: A Tribute To Mike Smith," which took place in New York in August 2005 features an all-star cast including Paul Shaffer, The Zombies, Denny Laine, The Fab Faux, Billy J. Kramer, and Peter and Gordon. Immobilized in a fall suffered in 2003, Smith gets the support of his high profile friends as they perform such hits as "Come Home," "Any Way You Want It" and "Glad All Over."

The Dave Clark Five will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on March 10, 2008. The "Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony" will air live on VH1 Classic and MTV Networks' MHD: Music High-Definition channel on Monday, March 10 at 8:30 PM/ET.

SoulStage: Erykah Badu airs on VH1 Soul

When VH1 Soul "SoulStage" made its debut in August 2007 with R&B songstress Jill Scott, it was clear that the soul was about to become unstoppable. Wyclef Jean continued to stir up the soul as the featured artist of the second presentation of VH1 Soul "SoulStage," where he performed new music from his "Carnivale" album. Now, Grammy Award-winning, R&B and hip hop singer/songwriter Erykah Badu takes her place among the elite artists in the VH1 Soul "SoulStage" franchise. Shot in front of a live studio audience, VH1 Soul "SoulStage," provides viewers with exclusive world premiere performances of songs from Erykah’s brand new album, providing viewers with an inside look into the heart and soul of her eclectic and cerebral musical stylings.

VH1 Soul "SoulStage: Erykah Badu presented by Infiniti" will premiere on VH1 Soul on Tuesday, February 26 at 9PM (ET/PT). This 30-minute musical experience will feature Erykah performing songs "Honey" and "Healer" for the first time from her upcoming album "New Amerykah: Part 1 (4th World War)," in stores February 26, 2008. Viewers will also have the opportunity to hear Erykah share her inspiration behind such hits as "Otherside of the Game" and "On & On." The full show, plus additional exclusive performances not seen in the broadcast will be available online at VH1Soul.com beginning Tuesday, February 26.

Austin City Limits Taps R.E.M. for First Taping of New Season

Athens Band Makes Its First Appearance on PBS Stage During 2008 SxSW Music Conference

The acclaimed PBS live music television series AUSTIN CITY LIMITS welcomes R.E.M. to its stage for the band's first ever appearance on the acclaimed long-running show. The concert, which takes place on March 13 during this year's annual SxSW Music Conference, also marks the first taping of the 34th season of AUSTIN CITY LIMITS. The televised broadcast will air on PBS stations nationwide later this year.

Last month, R.E.M. revealed details of their upcoming new album, "Accelerate," due on Warner Bros. Records on April 1. The album is the band's 14th studio release and was recorded in Vancouver, Canada, Dublin, Ireland and Athens, Georgia last spring with Grammy Award-winning producer Jacknife Lee, who is noted for his work with U2 ("How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb"), as well as Snow Patrol, Bloc Party and Kasabian.

Viewers looking for new music programming will find exciting performances included in the PBS March 2008 line-up. From a happy, noisy family reunion concert with the Osmonds to a moving performance documentary from the Clash to an Oscar-nominated version of Peter and the Wolf, March programming has something for every music lover.

New music specials from Andre Rieu, James Last, Sarah Brightman, Daniel O'Donnell, James Taylor, Martina McBride, and the High Kings are all on tap. Shangri-La, a remarkable special from China, explores new dance horizons. And new compilations of classics include a Hollywood treasure chest of singing and dancing and a trip through the 60s.

The March line-up of music specials features THE OSMONDS 50TH ANNIVERSARY REUNION. From pop to country, from Branson to Broadway and "Dancing With the Stars," in 50 years of entertaining, the seven performing Osmond siblings have never lost their touch or their huge fan-base. "Osmand-mania" re-ignites in this concert special, recorded before a live audience in Las Vegas.

THE CLASH LIVE: REVOLUTION ROCK could turn a whole new generation on to the band whose breakthrough music opened punk to the world. Drawing from never-before-seen live concerts and interview sessions, this performance documentary illuminates the short but highly influential and prolific reign of the band from the mid-70s through the early 80s.
