VH1 Classic is celebrating the life and work of Dave Clark Five lead singer Mike Smith, who passed away yesterday at the age of 64, with the television premiere of "Paul Shaffer And His British Invasion: A Tribute To Mike Smith." The tribute concert will premiere on VH1 Classic on Saturday, March 1 at 6:30 PM.* The concert will re-air on VH1 Classic Saturday, March 1 at 10:00 PM and will be seen in high-definition on MHD: MTV Networks' high-definition music channel Saturday, March 1 at 10:00 PM.
"Paul Shaffer And His British Invasion: A Tribute To Mike Smith," which took place in New York in August 2005 features an all-star cast including Paul Shaffer, The Zombies, Denny Laine, The Fab Faux, Billy J. Kramer, and Peter and Gordon. Immobilized in a fall suffered in 2003, Smith gets the support of his high profile friends as they perform such hits as "Come Home," "Any Way You Want It" and "Glad All Over."
The Dave Clark Five will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on March 10, 2008. The "Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony" will air live on VH1 Classic and MTV Networks' MHD: Music High-Definition channel on Monday, March 10 at 8:30 PM/ET.

Austin City Limits Taps R.E.M. for First Taping of New Season
Athens Band Makes Its First Appearance on PBS Stage During 2008 SxSW Music Conference
The acclaimed PBS live music television series AUSTIN CITY LIMITS welcomes R.E.M. to its stage for the band's first ever appearance on the acclaimed long-running show. The concert, which takes place on March 13 during this year's annual SxSW Music Conference, also marks the first taping of the 34th season of AUSTIN CITY LIMITS. The televised broadcast will air on PBS stations nationwide later this year.
Last month, R.E.M. revealed details of their upcoming new album, "Accelerate," due on Warner Bros. Records on April 1. The album is the band's 14th studio release and was recorded in Vancouver, Canada, Dublin, Ireland and Athens, Georgia last spring with Grammy Award-winning producer Jacknife Lee, who is noted for his work with U2 ("How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb"), as well as Snow Patrol, Bloc Party and Kasabian.
